Here's What to Do When Your Furnace Won't Ignite

February 23, 2017

We are getting through the last several weeks of winter but we still are relying on our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If your furnace won’t turn on, here are a couple things you can check yourself before your call Freschi Service Experts.

Check Air Filters

You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you fail to do so, they can get clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in your furnace malfunctioning.

Check Your Thermostat

Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the actual room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t run. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”

Check the Power

It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently moved to the “Off” position.

If you check all these things and your furnace will still not kick on, give Freschi Service Experts a call at 925-384-1303 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
