Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are getting through the last several weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cool nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than turning in at night and realizing your furnace won’t kick on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are some things you can check yourself prior to calling Stevenson Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you don’t, they can become clogged, obstructing air flow and causing your furnace to malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Start by turning the thermostat up a few degrees to get the furnace to turn on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but make sure the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas furnaces use electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently flipped to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and get you heating again as soon as possible.
