The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Headquarters Office in Plano, TX was excited to contribute more than 320 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in the Texas city.
“Last fall, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an unbelievable experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They go above and beyond providing food – they are an essential part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to celebrate her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would obtain her next meal. Minnie’s doesn’t just provide free, healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to incorporate the food they are given to create healthy, long-lasting meals. They also provide resume help along with financial and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Because around 50 pounds of food is given to each family to last them a month, Service Experts was able to supply meals for six families for the month.
“Each member of the team was so excited that we had this food drive for them, and they even took time to show us their incredible facility,” Wilson said.
