Last year we published a few of the most common air conditioning problems Concord faces, but now we’re back with some frequent air conditioning troubles that you can help troubleshoot.
The A/C is on but not releasing cool air.
If your AC is running but not truly cooling, you may need to have your refrigerant levels inspected. Refrigerant is important to make sure the air coming out of your A/C is actually cool and keeps you comfortable. Low refrigerant is frequently an indicator of a leak or that the system wasn’t charged correctly.
One way to confirm if you are low on refrigerant is to go out to your air conditioning system and find the two copper pipes. If the bigger pipe is “sweating” or producing condensation, feel the pipe to see if it’s cold. If it is, you are probably good to go and do not need more refrigerant.
If you’re not positive or the pipe is not giving off condensation and is not cold when you feel it, call Freschi Service Experts and we’ll pay you a visit and examine your refrigerant levels and discover why your air conditioner is not blowing cool air. Keep in mind, only an EPA Certified technician should manage refrigerant for central A/C systems, due to the hazards of handling this potentially dangerous chemical.
You air condenser fan isn’t spinning.
There are several reasons your condenser fan might not be turning. One might be that it simply burned out and you have to get a replacement. Humidity generally causes more condensation so another problem to look out for is that the water is not draining properly or that the drain is hindered. If you can confirm these things, you may be able to locate the trouble; but, if not, give Freschi Service Experts a call and we can find out what has stopped your condenser fan from turning and walk you through your options to get your air conditioning problem corrected.
Your AC system is not providing sufficient air cooling.
First thing’s first: try dropping the temperature on your thermostat. It seems ridiculous but sometimes it’s easy to forget the obvious. If dropping the temperature doesn’t get your AC cooling, check and swap out the air filter. If the air filter is obstructed, it could cause significant cooling issues. Another problem that could be causing your lack of cooling is an A/C system that is not sized correctly, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are constructed. Freschi Service Experts is happy to come out and conduct an analysis to determine if the size of your AC is causing your issues.
Air Conditioner shuts on and off repeatedly
If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of a few things. One option is that your condenser or evaporator is blocked or dirty and needs to be cleaned. Once the equipment is cleaned and all clogs moved elsewhere, you may be back to a regular running air conditioner. Remember that humidity also plays a role so if the home cools to the correct temperatures, but then the humidity causes your home to heat up quickly, it could result in an on-again, off-again system because it’s having to work harder to keep you cool and comfortable.
No matter your problem, whatever common or uncommon A/C trouble you run into, Freschi Service Experts is here for you around the clock. We are available all the time so we can get your AC system cooling and get your family comfortable quickly.
