Common Antioch AC Problems and Solutions

AC Problems and Solutions 617.jpg

Last year we published some of the most common air conditioning problems Antioch faces, but now we’re back with some frequent AC problems that you can help troubleshoot.

Your air conditioner is on but not releasing cool air.

If your A/C system is running but not truly cooling, you might need to have your refrigerant levels inspected. Refrigerant is important to make sure the air blowing from the A/C is really cool and keeps your home comfortable. Low refrigerant is usually an indicator of a leak or that the system wasn’t charged correctly.

One way to confirm if you are low on refrigerant is to go out to your air conditioning system and find the two copper pipes. If the bigger pipe is “sweating” or giving off condensation, feel the pipe to see if it’s cold. If it is, you are most likely good to go and do not need additional refrigerant.

If you’re not positive or the pipe is not giving off condensation and is not cold when you feel it, call Freschi Service Experts and we’ll pay you a visit and examine your refrigerant levels and find out why your air conditioner is not blowing cool air. Keep in mind, only an EPA Certified technician should manage refrigerant for central air conditioning systems, due to the hazards of handling this potentially dangerous chemical.

You air condenser fan isn’t spinning.

There are many reasons your condenser fan isn’t rotating. One might be that it merely burned out and you have to get a replacement. Humidity generally causes more condensation so another issue could be that the water is not draining correctly or that the drain is hindered. If you can confirm these things, you may be able to find the trouble; but, if not, give Freschi Service Experts a call and we can find out what is preventing your condenser fan from turning and review your options to get your air conditioning problem fixed.

Your AC system is not providing adequate air cooling.

It sounds crazy, but try dropping the temperature on your thermostat. It seems absurd but sometimes our busy lives cause us to forget the obvious. If dropping the temperature doesn’t get your AC cooling, check and swap out the air filter. If the air filter is obstructed, it could cause significant cooling issues. Another problem that could result in your lack of cooling is an A/C system that is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are constructed. Freschi Service Experts is happy to come out and complete an analysis to confirm whether or not the size of your air conditioner is causing your issues.

Air Conditioner shuts on and off repeatedly

If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off constantly, it could mean one of a few things. One option is that your condenser or evaporator is clogged or dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the equipment is cleaned and all blockages moved out of the way, you may be back to a normal running air conditioner. Remember that humidity also plays a role so if the home cools to the proper temperatures, but then the humidity causes your house to heat up quickly, this could cause an on-again, off-again AC because it’s having to work harder to keep you cool and comfortable.

No matter your problem, whatever typical or atypical A/C trouble you run into, Freschi Service Experts is here for you around the clock. We are available all the time so we can get your air conditioner cooling and get your family comfortable quickly.
